The electric went out sometime while Ari and I were at the grocery store... We ate lunch in the car since we had bags full of food (while we waited for Jas to come home and break into our house since the garage door wouldn't go up and i don't have a key for the screen door)... Then, since we were without electric still, we went to the Dr. Seuss Celebration at the library... They made door hangers, played bingo, read, and made cookie and marshmellow cat hats! So cute!

We got a bird feeder recently, and we have enjoyed looking at all the pretty birds! I got just sunflower seeds and suet, not the mixed kind... We've gotten chickadees, cardinals, woodpeckers, purple finches, sparows, nuthatch, robins, mourning doves, cow birds, and squirrels! I love that they were sitting there just watching on their little chairs!!

This picture was actually from yesterday... The girls packed up the crayon hearts we'd made along with the Valentine Kylie drew. I loved how they turned out... Kylie had been off T, W, and had a delay today. So, basically, she had lunch and a Valentine's party... Ari and I went over for it, and the kids actually ate almost all of the yogart treats I made!

I had the perfect birthday! Jason and the girls went out to pick a cake and buy presents from the dollar store (Kylie- a shell with pearls, Ari-a mug) with their own money... Then, they picked up Chinese (burbon chicken and rice)... Jas gave me 3 books and a bookmark! Such a fun day! Lots of texts, calls, and facebook messages too!! :)

Ari and I had a cloud theme today! We played fill the cloud with raindrops (while doing addition and word families), used a gameboard with clouds to learn time, read in the reading book, ate and read cloud books "in the clouds" (which were beanbags and pillows on a blue blanket)... So much fun!!!! :)

So, I cancelled Ari and I's eye appointments, called for a doctor appointment (we were put on the waiting list, but got one later), called the school to get homework and tell them she was absent, did some laundry and dishes in between, went to the doctor, stopped at the school...

Our Elf gave the girls "snow" for Christmas, and we tried it out today. You add water to some stuff that's similiar to what's in diapers. Then, watch it expand into "snow." They used it for hours with Pet Shops. :)

Mixing up the Quickcrete to cover the floor... But, after dumping it on, Jas realized that it wasn't the right stuff... So, he had to scrape it up quickly...

Update: we had to give up on the concrete painting because it ended up being almost as expensive as laminate or tile with the cost of the right Quickcrete being $48 a bag... :(

CRAZY NIGHT last night!!!!! Jas and I were in bed when he thought about the possibility that we could have lead paint in our house... This would be a huge problem because he had just sent up paint dust all over the place... He got up and started checking online, and it said lead paint was outlawed in 1978. After checking our house papers, we learned that our house was built in 1978. GREAT!!!! So, we tried to ask some people and even tried calling the ER to see if anyone knew anything... no luck... So, we woke up the kids and headed to Jas' parents to spend the night... Jas got up and found a lead test today. Thankfully, we didn't have lead!! We all got to stay in our house and didn't have to worry about finding someone to clean lead out of everything!

I made 2 pans of lazagna today, and it's a good thing I finished before Jas did this... He rented a sander and got most of the paint off the concrete, but it was a HUGE mess... He had to put up sheets to block the dust from going in all the other rooms, and then had to end up doing it wet... This threw the paint water all over the newly painted walls... pretty discouraging night for both of us...

Yep, that lens is still broken... so bummed about it today because Cyndi texted me asking if I could go along to take pictures of tiny Chloe coming home tomorrow... FYI: Camera shops aren't open on Sunday. So, there's nothing I can do but hope that some place has a cheaper version of my favorite 50mm1.4 lens and that I will have time to get it before Chloe comes home...

This is a picture of my mom who got to ride out for a couple hour visit. She came with my uncle, and I picked her up so that we could spend the afternoon together before she went back at about 4:00... Short, but worth it! :) Love you, mom!!

Today, Ari and I had fun with paint chip word families and fish game math... I had to convince her that it would be fun and ok to write numbers on the bottom of the fish. Then, we took turns fishing 2 out and subtracting the numbers. If we got one of the two blank fish, we could make up a number for the other person (she LOVED that part).

I'm back to Weight Watchers again... gotta lose those 4 pounds that I ate during the holidays + a couple more to hit goal! Ari loves to make pictures and give them to people while we're at the meetings... Today, she gave one to the leader and got 2 stickers (which she is SO excited about) from her! I just love the sweet people there! They are almost like a little family! :)

Yep, it's our toilet... and it was the center of attention this morning before church... It started last night when I dropped a bottle of coconut oil in it... I was grossed out that it fell in the unflushed toilet water... So, my ilogical solution was to flush the yucky water down and then pull the bottle out from the somewhat cleaner water (still totally disgusting)... I actually felt like the toilet couldn't possibly flush the bottle (toilets are way more discerning than that, right?) Well, come to find out, it could, and did flush the bottle! Crap! I meant to tell Jas, but forgot as we were headed to our friend's house for supper... So, the toilet flushed fine for the rest of the night, and all was well until it didn't flush so well this morning... Jason came in to try to fix the clog which we assumed was just normal... He asked me, "Did something fall in the toilet? It sounds like something's in there." Oops! I now had to admit the whole incident from the night before. So, it wouldn't unclog, and there was some NOT clean water in there at this point... I was begging him not to stick his hand in to get it out, but there was no choice... (by the way, did you know that there are a LOT of other people who have had similiar situations and written about them on the internet? there's some thrilling reading for you when you are bored!) Well, in the end, Jas got the bottle, disposed of it, took a shower, and made it to church only a couple minutes late... All in a normal day at the Maggard house!!!

Being a snow day, I wanted to do something fun... So, last night, I found a recipe for this cornstarch clay mixture which turned out to be a funny disaster... It was way too gooey and ended up running off the table and wouldn't form into balls (for more than a couple seconds) It was sort of "alive" - oozing back into gooey blobs... Then, it turned into powder after I tried to use a hairdryer for a while... Anyway, we threw it out, swept up the floor, and used the playdough that we had made before Christmas! We dug out scrapbooking supplies, popsicle sticks, clothes pins, eyeballs, foil, and anything weird we could find... Then, we made little creatures! Ari made an alien with a bazillion eyes, and Kylie made tons of fun little creatures! This is my robot girl. :)

Kylie had her first swimming class today. There are only 4 in her class, and she was all smiles! She said it seemed to go really fast and was already asking when she would get to go again... She was kinda stiff and a bit scared, but she tried to do everything. Kylie was the only one too short to reach the bottom; so, the teacher gave her a bubble to make her feel more confident. :)

No turning back now... Jas ripped up some of the white (well, not white now after 9 years!) carpet to see what was underneath! Now, we are ready to finally tackle the front room... I'm throwing around the idea of turquoise/ greenish and chocolate brown colors and a white painted floor... YAY!! I am SO not going to miss that carpet!!!!!

Today, we went bowling for the first time together and with the girls! It was so much fun! I won with 80 something, Jas and Ari tied with 76, and Kylie had 75! So, basically, we all suck! hahaha! Ari cracked me up because she went to the wrong lane once and started wandering toward who knows where once... So, after that she would go right up to our lane and look back and say, "Is this the right one?" before granny-shooting it! Kylie was super fast (as always :) She would pick the ball up, hurry to the lane, drop it fast, and run back to watch what it did! It was hard to capture a video of her from start to finish! hahahaha!

Ari and I got haircuts today at the beauty college. She thought it was fun and "not so bad". She thought getting her hair washed was the best part, and she was so good! I heard an old lady commenting about her only being four... made me proud...:) She was just chattering away to the girl, and asked her how old she was... The girl said 18, and Ari said, "I think my mommy's a little bigger than that."

I started the morning out with a ticket for not having a seatbelt on... it could have been worse though because I was speeding and my front licence plate was broken off, and ari wasn't in a belt either... so, the police lady was very nice to me, but I still cried...

Ari went on "part of her b-day date with daddy" (which they haven't gotten around to doing until now)... She wanted to go to a pet store and get a snake. So, here's her little corn snake... there were very pink ones and redder ones, but she wanted one that looked brown... lol!! They also went to McDonald's for a hot fudge sundae, but Ari said it wasn't all of their date because she still wants to go to the museum...lol!

Ari has been sick for about 2 weeks... She's been having to do breathing treatments, and I got her up at 11:00 to have one... She was sleeping while doing it. Poor thing... she's gone through 2 antibiotics to try to fix her ear infections, had pink eye, had croup and wheezing/ coughing, and had a sinus infection.

We haven't been to our church in a couple weeks. So, the girls finally had a chance to give the money they had worked for to the little kids. We had heard that the bagels and coffee and bread in one of the rooms was for sale, and the money would go to kids who needed clean water. They used their allowance to buy 2 loaves of bread (which they chose and held all the way home... They wanted to try it as soon as we got home, and it was really special to them... :)

I tried to get a few pictures of the girls in their Easter dresses before church this morning. Kylie was definitely not happy about the chilly weather and was not about to cooperate. I did get a couple pictures of Ari, but we were in a big hurry as always! lol!

We had a really nice day today. Jas cleaned the house. The girls and I folded our pile of laundry, and they put away their toys. I went to Walmart and cooked lunch (fish, veggies, and rice). Then, Bill and Janet came over for lunch and a nice visit outside. After a short nap, we had a picnic on the trampoline. (Ari and I have had 2 others during the week here.) We all laid on the trampoline and read books and counted birds and bugs that passed over the top. It was the perfect day! :)

We had our little egg hunt around the house. Then, Jason and I left for Columbus to watch a Columbus Crew game!! (It's a professional soccer team.) He has been wanting to see them for a long time, and I got tickets for his birthday present. We stayed over at a hotel and had a nice lunch out while the girls enjoyed being at Grandma and Grandpa's for a sleepover! So much fun for all of us!! After we got back, we went down to see the extended family and pick up the girls from Jason's aunt's house. :)

Jason and Kylie love to collect wood for the fire, and we all enjoy sitting around it!

The dog LOVES it out here. Dad always takes him on long runs through the woods.

Even though she was sick, Ari still got to have some fun poking around in the stream and sitting near the fire. She and Jas had a special time just sitting and looking at the stars and moon.

Opening Easter baskets from Grandma and Grandpa.

We colored eggs today for entertainment. We have all been so couped up with being sick for so long. Kylie likes to color quickly and with lots of different colors. Ari is more methodical and likes to dip parts of the eggs in and is slower. Jas and I each colored one too... I still love it!

Ari was coughing so hard early this morning. So, Jas took her outside because she was too wobbly to stand near the freezer. Poor baby!!

I got to practice taking pictures today with Jason's cousins' boy. I just had to smile when I thought about writing cousins. Actually Jenni and Jonathan are BOTH his cousins and they have a baby! LOL!!! It sounds so wrong, but it's actually perfectly ok! They are totally not related to each other but both related to Jason! Hahaha!!! We could have sat on both sides of the church when they were married! LOL!!!

Ari was sick today. She brought one of her little cupcake-making coupons from her birthday over to me. So, we made carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. She did everything but the baking and frosting parts. :)

This is my first practice shoot with my new light! I have SO much to learn!! Most of the pictures had WAY too much light or had a huge shadow on the one side of their face! :)
